Round of applause for completeing my first working VCD capturing from a Canon DV video through Ulead Movie Factory on my Dell Dimension 4100 to a TDK CD/RW using a Samsung CD writer.
Problem is ........the picture when played to the TV through a Sony DVD player is partially missing some horizontal lines, the image breaks up sometimes and the sound track has loud crackling in parts ...any ideas??

IDEAS - i have lots of them.
Answers maybe
Sound : DV audio is 48kHz - VCD will be 44.1kHz --> sound problems
may arrise from the application that changed this frequency
Video DV video is 720*480 (ntsc) interlaced - VCD is 352*240 non interlaced --> again your encoder may have just done a $hitty encode
Try frameserving from Movie Factory with "avisynth" to TMPGenc and using the VCD template try again.
It is a whole book in itself - AviSynth - but once mastered it is a great tool
