    Hello,

I am trying to convert an .avi of spiderman into .mpeg to put on a vcd, to watch on my dvd player. However, when tmepg transfers to .mpeg it doesn't bring the video along, just the audio. Does anyone have any ideas as to what I can look for here?

Thanks so much, this would be so sweet if I could get it to work.

    Peace,
    Steve

  3. Did you choose system(Audio+video) on the radiobuttons in the mainscreen? And If you're encoding to mpeg2 (Settings/system) do you have a mpeg2 codec installed? (Just install a software DVD player or email me and i'll help you find one) Oh, and when you encode it, can you see the video in the tmpgenc window?

  5. better instructions this time sorry do this
1-go to options tab then click environmental settings
    2-go to the VFAPI tab
3-right click AVI VFW compatibility reader and hit higher priority
4-do the same with direct show reader until the are both at +1 or +2

    Any other ideas?

    Thanks,

  7. You could always try to frameserve from virtualdub, usualy works for me when there is a file that won't load in Tmpgenc.

Try loading into Vdub and select video/audio streaming and save as. Save out another copy for use in TMPGEnc.

Make sure your DirectShow filter is on top of the list as described above. Mine is at Priority 4, and has never had a problem.

I started the above process...but the projected video file was something like 23545 megs...is that normal? (so big?)

    Thanks,

  11. It's normal if you don't select a compression codec. Install the auxhandler with auxsetiup in your virtualdub folder. And then select "Start frameserver". And load that file (that you just created) into Tmpgenc. You might have to choose "show all files" for it to load. That way you can even include nifty filters to your Tmpgenc encodings, like adding subtitles, or resizing.

You never selected video > streaming audio > streaming
When you save out another copy using streaming, it does NOT re-encode the movie, it simply saves out another copy less any bad frames. So the output file will be almost the same size as the original...

If you don't select streaming, you will re-encode and the default compression is NONE...

It takes about a minuet to make another copy using streaming.
