I've downloaded several avi files and tried converting to SVCD with TMPEnc. None of them seem very good. Video quality is pretty bad on my Apex 800. I've tried 1:1 VGA, 4:3 NTSC and PAL, 16:9 NTSC and PAL for video sources. I use CBR from the guide (most times it's around 1500-1750.
I was able to eliminate the jerkiness by changing the field order but I can't seem to get decent video (it's always darker than the avi file).
Also, what's the best way to determine the video source aspect ratio for downloaded avi files?
Thanks,
Rich
