  1. Hi all,

I'm currently using Windows Media Encoder and Windows Media Server to distribute an multicast. The only problem is poor picture quality. I'm usin' Windows Media Video V3 with 1000kbps and the first problem is that clients connecting to the stream cannot configure the "quality" (cputime used to decode / filter the stream) which results as a bad picture quality even with that high datarate. Now, first question is that is it possible to enable client side filtering to the image or is there some server side instruction that I have overlooked OR is there a possibility to use some kind of other codecs/software to enable better quality. I'm thinking using Divx v.5 and above if it's suitable for streaming, but I haven't yet found information if it can do it nor the software to do this.

  2. if i may make a suggestiopn it takes a bit more time tho but youd end up having to do it anyways with divx. Make 2 or 3 different versions for different types of connections, give your clients the choice. most ppl have windows media player already installed divx however must be downloaded and installed(most ppl beleive it or not have a hard time with that)
