  1. I am fixing to give this up! I need some help!

I have been trying to capture a AVI off my VCR for over 2 weeks now and have had no luck. I am using VirtualDub now (I gave up with the program that came with my card and Adobe Premier). I found a tutorial here and tryed to use it. I am trying to use the Huffy codec. If I understand correctly I need to use the YUY2 or 24bit RGB options for it to work properly. Unfortunately I cannot select these options. I get 'Error 418: Unsupported Video Format'. I have tried installing new drivers for my video card (MCI GeForce4 Ti4600). I dont know what the deal is... ANYONE??

Secondly, I have not been able to get any audio in my captured videos using VirtualDub. I have sound when it is actually capturing but the captured file is mute. I have Capture Audio selected and my Line-In is not muted in my volume controls. I have sound fine when it is playing in VirtualDub.

Please help me!! I want to be able to do this, but I am about to give it up!

    Thanks in advance!

Can only offer some suggestions about the audio problem since I had same problem. Firstly check the audio levels in the VU meter under the audio tab during capture. If there is movement then the sound must be being recorded. If not double check again that the 'line in' is unchecked in the Windows Recorder (not playback) panel.

During playback ensure that the 'Wav-in' is unchecked on the Windows Playback panel. Also, you may want to plug your sound from the VCR directly into the sound card if not already.

There is an excellent site for suggestions on recording in Vdub at:
