Anybody have any idea what this MPEG Audio 5.1 Surround is that you hear referred to occasionally? Does it work in standalone DVD players at all (like on an SVCD)? Obviously, at least with my DVD player, you can't mux AC3 and MPEG-2 video on an SVCD and have it play. If you know what it is, can you tell me where to obtain the tools to code it? My DVD player is attached digitally (coax) to a 5.1 Surround A/V reciever. Any help is appreciated. Thanx.

P.S. My DVD player's profile on this site says that it does not support miniDVD/cDVD, but I haven't tried.

Meanwhile mpeg 5.1 audio is relatively easy to achieve but you need a dvd standalone that supports mpeg multichannel (look at the logos at the front side) and also a receiver that supports mpeg multichannel (logo again).
Other combinations do not work. If you have that both I will explain how to do mpeg multichannel ...

And of course you cannot mux m2v and ac3 as svcd and burn as svcd. Result will always be no audio.

On some players you can do miniDVD/cDVD or burn the muxed m2v/ac3 (=mpg or vob) without any special file structure to cd-r(w). F.e. remember the good old Yamakawa/Raite 713/715 with A2-Bios ...
