  1. Hi,

I'm using the Project Wizard to set the max file size to 100%, this drops the bitrate and the estimated filesize so it can fit onto once CD. However after the conversion the file is too large to fit onto one CD. Any idea what I'm doing wrong?

    Thanks!

  2. Hi!

Remember you can get 70 mins. of video, if you want a VCD (mpeg1) or 35 min. (+or-) in SVCD )mpeg2. Perhaps Tempgenc is not the best but it works, and works well.

    I hope this helps you.

  3. Don't use the wizard and use a bitrate calculator to set the bitrate so it will fit on cd here is link to calc www.vcdhelp.com/calc.htm You just enter length of movie and how many cds you want to fit it on to and enter the avg bitrate

  4. How large?

This happend to me at first, but nowadays I only use the 90 or 93 % (as maximum), Use nero for burning your VCD´s or SVCD not easy cd creator, I had problems with that.

    Luck!!!

TMPGenc has a very good bitrate calculator. If it says the (S)VCD mpg will fit on a CD, chances are it will. 8) Remember, a 790+MB SVCD mpg fits on a 700MB CD!

I have 3 results (in KB) Actual versus estimated):
    movie1: 914,676 (estimated 747.22MB)
    movie2: 940,535 (estimated 753.60MB)
    movie3: 800,727 (estimated 747.17MB)

I set the bit rate to around 900kbits/sec or abour 95% of a 80min CD-R. It also seems that even when I reduced from 100% to 95% the actual movie size was identicall. Is there something with the sound that might cause problems?

  7. For VCD I found that the stream type in the "system" page of setting must be changed from "VCD standard" to "VCD non-standard" or "MPEG1 stream".
If you don't do it, TMPGEnc compress with the different bitrate but produces always the same file size (don't ask me why !).
I don't know if it is the same for SVCD.

  8. jurgen:

Use this. 1. Select de type of file what you want to get (SVCD or VCD)
    2.video type non interlace
3.Aspect ratio 4:3 525 lines (ntsc) or (pal)
4 Select the range (remember in VCD you can encode 70 mins.
    o video).
    5. Don´t use the 100% of 70 mins. I think is better use 60 mins.
    6. Clip frame: click on arrange setting and click on arrange method, select center custom size
    7. click on other settings, Rate control mode set on CBR.
    8. bitrate 1150, VBV buffer size 40

I hope this works for you.

    Hi Riccardo,

This did the trick! Now all the movies fit very nicely onto one CD.

Thanks to everyone for your suggestions.

    Regards, Jurgen.
