email me tell me this so please try it out and tell every one your out come THANKS!!!!!!!!!!!!

It's not needed. The MMC 7.1 has a profile for Mpeg-2 at 480x480
(NTSC). I'm pretty sure the PAL equiv. is there too. However NO ATI
capture board can produce SVCD compliant Mpeg. The "hacks" you may
    have
seen were only to get the user available things like frame size etc. in
    the
ball park. Even after doing those things, (or using the Mpeg-2 480x480
profile in MMC 7.1) you will still have to send it through some program
that will make the internal timing, pack sizes etc. proper. I've been
playing with a program called "BitRateViewer". It has a utility that
    can
"fix" the ATI Mpeg-2 so Nero will accept it and allow you to burn an
SVCD. The only problem is it's not free (about 29? Euro dollars) and
    it
only works with Mpeg elementary video streams. In other words an Mpeg
    that
has be de-multiplexed into separate video and audio mpeg streams.
    Still,
my first tests show it to be very fast.

  2. you can also use the de/mux in TmpgEnc to fix ati mpegs and it is free.

I have an ati but prefer to capture to avi first and then encode for best quality.

This is why I use Mpeg1 for XVCD captures. It simply seems to be easier to use Stinky's registry hack and capture at 352x480 or 480x480 with for example a VBR of 3.1 (or CBR) and just drop in into Nero.

Does anybody have an opinion as to the difference in quality between a 480x480 VBR 3.1 Mpeg1 capture versus an Mpeg2 capture using the same settings? I'm getting great results with Mpeg1 but have not done enough Mpeg2 captures for comparision purposes. Does the additional work required to produce Mpeg2 make a difference in the final quality when comparing the two? Any opinions?

  4. Ha thanks Stansell I used TMPG 12h and ran the mpeg to file in it and NERO 5.5.2.4 took the file and made the SVCD to play in my GPX DVD player. Also im using the
"ALL IN WONDER Radeon 32meg DDR"
