im gonna make this as short as possible by skipping details. ive ripped a bunch of dvds and realized that they were not encoded in dolby digital so i cannot hear the sound through my home theater the way i have it hooked up (like i said skipping details). of course i am just realizing this now and dont know where i went wrong...how do i rip a dvd and retain the dolby digital sound? this is what i usually do...
1. rip dvd with dvdecrypter
2. make project file with DVD2AVI
3. load project into TMPGenc and re-encode to mpeg-2
4. author and burn
where in these steps should i be preserving the dolby digital, and HOW?
one other question...and maybe i need to put this in another part of the forum but, when i have, say, a divx file, the audio is not dolby digital. but sometimes if its high enough qualiity i would like to put it on a dvd-r, is there anyway i can take the audio from a divx movi and make it dolby digital?
Thank you so much for your help in advance!!!

If you're encoding to VCD or SVCD it can only be in Stereo - not Dolby - Sorry - DVDR, you can do it
