Looking through Google hits on "Compel WinASPI" I can see that it says that Compel is not for XP. Suggest you folloow some of these hits, there may be a clue.

  4. the aspi layer 4.70 does't work on or did not work on my xp too.
so if you have nero go in side the folder right click on the wnaspi 32.dll
and copy it. then go to your systems 32 folder and paste it.
delete the aspi 4.70 layer first.

  5. this is a dvd or .avi? Reason I ask is that error code looks like it's an .avi file. Read dvd2svcd advanced reference MISC section to find out.

    try installing forceaspi 1.7

  8. I had a problem with ASPI after installing PowerDVD XP. prior to the install Smartripper worked fine, but after it was unable to unlock DVD's due to ASPI problems
I used the system restore wizard in XP Pro to restore back prior to installing Pdvd XP and guess what - the problem disappeared. My suggestion to anyone having these problems - look to any recently installed programs, and use the restore wizard in XP.
    Worked for me.....
