2 problems with vcd's on my TV

ok ,,, ive recently purchased a videologic dvd player piece of kit for playing vcd's etc on my tv and not on my scrawny 15" moniter . NOW the first problem arises when i plug the scart lead into my tv and i only get a black and white picture , my telly isnt the newest so i'm thinkin maybe pal ntsc problems , i dunno ??? does anyone else ??? second problem i thought id combat the pal ntsc problem by putting it through my fairly newer video first and then onto my tv , but i cant get any sort of picture at all , does anyone have any light to throw onto this subject ... It would be very happily recieved if they did .

hi ,,, its me again ive fixed the problemo with the colour on my tv it was on ntsc in my settings but i would still like to know how i could get it to play through my video ifanyone has and idea that would be just great .

I have absolutley no clue on this, so it is just a guess, but is your TV able to pick up an AV signal from your VCR?
