I have a powerpoint presentation that basically runs as a slideshow. I'd like to be able to play it on a VCR. Here's what I think needs to be done but I'd like some assistance in determining if this is even possible. Before you decide to flame me for copyright issues, please keep in mind that all work and material here is my own creation.

The powerpoint presentation is done in powerpoint XP (2002). I'm pretty sure I can convert that to some kind of AVI or MPG. From there it should be easy to use TEMPGnc and easy CD creator 5 to make a VCD. I can't recall off the top of my head but I think my DVD player is the RCA RC5215P which plays burned VCDs fine for me now. The next step is a little tricky. How exactly can I get my VCR to record what the DVD player is putting out? Since this is just a video I created there is no Macrovision protection to worry about. Does this sound like it will work? Do I need a special kind of "convertor" box? I haven't tried any of this yet ... it's theory for now. Just wanted some tips for when I get started...

  2. I would just connect the outputs of the DVD player to the inputs of the VCR, hit "Record" on the VCR and "Play" on the DVD player. It shouldn't be much more difficult than that.

  3. That will most likely work. I just burned a video to vcd, stuck it in my Apex 1100 dvd player, output through the vcr to the tv. You are just using the dvd player like you would any other input.

  4. Macrovision is only a protection feature for DVDs (and not all of them carry it by the way), so you can easily burn a VCD, play it on your VCD player and record the output.

Another (faster) solution: if your pc has a tv/out, just output sound and image from the pc and record the result.

    Cheers
