  1. my yamaha burner and nero don't work together any more. i've tried several ver. of nero but it hangs at 5%-6%. have to use ctl-alt-delete to shut the program down, then i have to reboot to get the burner to release the disc. funny thing is, checking to see what the amount of the file size is that burned before it locked up shows the full file size of the original mpeg i'm trying to burn. put the disc in my standalone dvd player and it will play the movie until it reaches that 5%-6% where nero locked up and i get a still image of the last frame. thought it might be the burner so i burned an entire disc with clone-cd and the burner did fine. like i said, nero used to work fine. i let it use it's default settings. tho just read someone turned off the caching to solve their prolems. maybe i'll try that or download vcd-easy and give that a try. if anyone can think of possible solutions, i'll try them. thanks.

  2. have you completely uninstalled nero and downloaded and installed the latest version?

the reason your file size is still given as the maximum is because it's written into the table of contents. the same thing happens with audio cd's.. if you burn a 20-track cd but cancel the burn after a minute or two and put the CD in a CD player, it'll tell you the supposed full length and that the CD has 20 tracks.

  3. ok, i understand that, but looking at the disc you can see that nearly the whole thing has been written to. yes, i've uninstalled nero several times and tried 3 different versions of nero, including the latest. during the last uninstall i even went so far as to go into the registry and delete anything having to do with nero that a normal uninstall misses. rebooted then installed ver. 5582. still the same problem. do all the wnaspi files have to be in the nero folder for it to work properly? currently the only wnaspi file in the nero folder is the wnaspi32.dll. my older philips series 800 burner will still works with nero but it's only 8x and pio only. man, i'm really stumped.

i believe the latest aspi ver. i have installed is 4.7.

just ran aspichk and tried to locate all my aspi files. this what i have installed:
    aspi32.sys v.4.0.1
    wowpost.exe v.4.6
    winaspi.dll v.4.6
    wnaspi32.dll v.4.0.1
    wnaspi64 v.4.7
    wnaspixp v.4.7
    aspi.sys v.4.7
    aspi64.sys v.4.7

    i'm running win2000 pro
