Flickering in VCD

hi all.
i've followed the instructions on the DVD to VCD page.
i think i did most of the things right, but i ended up with a flickering movie.
i burnt my final mpeg using nero5.5.5.1 .
when i chose to burn it with the title screen thingy, my DVD/VCD player showed just that image, and couldnt go to the next track.
when i did it without that image, the movie was on ok, sound and all, only flickering. badly.
my question is:
does the fault lie in the ripping process or in my DVD/VCD player?
(the DVD was in pal, and so i made sure the VCD would be in PAL, so it no NTSC-PAL related. i think.)

What did you use to Encoder the movie ? and i'd also suggest you either use VCDEasy or TSCV, or atleast upgrade your Nero to 5.582
