  1. I really was impressed with the trial version of TMPGEnc Plus for effectively converting AVI files to MPEG-2. However when I went to register it the program now no longer works as I get fatal error messages when I go to start the rendering process. I've asked for help from the vendor, Pegasys, but was told it'll be 8-10 days before they can get back to me. I have a project that has to be completed by Tuesday so i need to quickly find a replacement program that can help me do the translation from AVI files to MPEG-2. Anyone have any suggestions?

FYI, although the program I'm using to create the AVI files has the ability to output the project as MPEG-2 files (Studio7) I find the the end product very poor - very jerky, jagged. The trial version of TMPGEncPlus had effectively avoided all these problems.

  4. I had exactly the same experience with what you were going through. Capturing my video to Pinnacle studio 7 and then make movie in MPEG2. Terrible results.. Jerky, blocky just like you said!

I then tried instead to output the movie in AVI and converted it with TMPGE for much greater result. However, It is still slighly blocky at fast movements with the camera. Don't know if it won't get any better or what. Let me know if you had any special settings. Here are mine: NTSC FIlm : interlace 1:1 video aspect and CBR 2520...

    "what/where can I find "alt.binaries.multimedia.utilities"?"

It is a newsgroup. Most ISPs provide a news server as part of the service. Binary *usenet* is where all the goodies are.
