Dear friends,
I have precious S-VHS recordings but my player is not working anymore (no electricity) although it was safely in storage for years.
* is there a battery for the clock that ran out?
* the manual mentions "quartz clock" - can that even run out?
* if this forum cannot help, do you know of a reliable mechanic or hobbyist with golden fingers (and not necessarily expesive...

check the capacitors visually on the power supply (power off) , if they have the top popped or leaking stuff below they must be replaced
