  1. Hi there,

I have a question. I'd like to make SVCDs from DivX movies, that run fullscreen on my 16:9 TV. I'm a bit confused about this, cause everytime I encode a SVCD with TMPGEnc, I get black borders again. Although I tell TMPGEnc to encode for 16:9.
I looked at the sizes of the DivX moviez, but there seems to be no "normal" size, every movie has its own aspect ratio.

Is there a way to resize the movie, so that I have the right aspect ratio AND fullscreen on my TV??

    Thanks for your help

P.S.: Sorry for my English, I'm from Germany

  2. I recognize the problem. I used to load pre-defined templates for SVCD. But i discovered that those templates grayed out options for me which were very useful when encoding for 16:9. Sorry, can't remember exact options now. But i do remember that when i choose "New project" i was able to set separate options for the source as well as the output file.

I had one file which was in 2.11:1 format and since a wide-screen TV has 1.85:1 (16:9) it makes sense that i got tiny black borders above and below the movie. I took that as a proof of my encoding worked correctly for a 16:9 TV. When i switched to 4:3 format everything looked tall and thin.

In general when encoding to (S)VCD from DivX, (presuming the DivX has correct aspect ratio), settings should be as follows:-

    MPEG setting>Advanced>Source aspect ratio =1:1(VGA).

Video arrange method = Full screen (keep aspect ratio).
