  1. Hello everyone,

I'm a newbie here but I found plenty of resources and great answers until a point where I seem stuck!

I'm converting movies for a car DVD player, playing them from an SD card.
So far I only managed to play specific Xvid videos ; according to MediaInfo the ones using Xvid 1.1.2 Writing library.

I tried to convert an MKV file to Xvid formats using QuickMediaConverter (QMC) however it seems it has created them using Xvid 65.
When I played it on my car DVD player, I could only have audio output (no video output).
I have other files that are mostly MP4.

Could you please help me find the right tool to convert to the right Xvid writing library? Or perhaps this option is available in (QMC) but unsure how to configure this setting.

    Thank you in advance,

    Best

    Emilumin

Post the text from mediainfo for both a working and a non-working video.

The main things to look out for is that the video resolution is a proper DVD resolution, Qpel and GMC both off.

Sorry, not sure what you mean here by Qpel and GMC...

  5. Could be the container.
    AVI is working, mkv not.
Try to remux the mkv to avi.
Can be done with clever Ffmpeg-GUI.

There are several potential problem areas. The container that ProWo mentions could very well be the problem.

In addition, the working video was encoded with the Simple@L3 while the non-working video was encoded at Advanced Simple@L5. You need to check the manual for your player to see what profile it can play.

Finally, the working video is 720 pixels wide but the non-working is 800 pixels. Possibly it is too wide to play.

There should be some place to specify those settings in your conversion software. I've never used that program so I can't give you instructions on where to make those settings.
