    Hi all,

I have a DivX4 movie that I want to convert to VCD. I followed the "DivX to VCD All In One Guide" as found in the HOW TO / CONVERT section of this site, but after the conversion finishes, I get a new mpeg file with ONLY the audio. No Video...

    Anyone has an idea?

Ok, I just downloaded the Panasonic MPEG Encoder Demo and wanted to follow the steps as explained in http://www.vcdhelp.com/panasonic.htm .

So I hit Select, choose my source DivX file, then click "use identical files" so it uses the audio from the avi source.

Then I select "VCD/NTSC Stream (.mpg)" in the Type section, and hit "Special Processing"... Nothing happens!!!

Tried then to use a separate wave file for the audio, same thing, when hitting "Special Processing", nothing happens.

So I try to encode it directly without using any special processing. I press "Start Encoding", and it gives me an error message not saying ANYTHING:

Here are the properties of my source DivX file as given by VirtualDub:

Hope this can help you helping us

Ok, after about 5 hours of late night / early morning reading, I found my solution...

In fact, the problem was in the AVI source file. I post how I could work out my problem so it could help other people.

    - Open Virtual Dub
    - File > Open Video File
    - Video > Scan Video Stream for errors
    - Let the process finish, you should then see in the status bar that a number of frames have problems.
    - Video > Direct Stream Copy
    - Audio > Direct Stream Copy
    - File > Save as AVI

Then work with your new AVI to encode

    Hope this will help someone...
    - A Life? Cool! Where can I download one of those from?
    - I have a dream: 1,000,000,000,000 bytes free.
    - The box said: 'install on Windows XP, 2003 or better'. So I installed it on Linux.
    - Windows is NOT a virus. Viruses DO something
