has anyone experimented with time lapse recording ?
id like to do so , and cant find any software that will do the job. can anyone reccomend anything thats shareware ? and if so where can i get it from ?

Well, it depends on what your capture source is as to whether this will work but the screen capture tool Snag-it, available from all good shareware download sites, is capable of time lapse capture. Set it in video mode to capture a section of screen and set up the time lapse parameters however you want.

ASUS video security software-came bundled with my video card
it allows captureing only changes it detects over time I think thats what you are looking for -
ATI MMC will do both time-lapse or motion-detect, works well for security-cam setup.

im trying to capture from my video cam (not web cam) some stuff like clouds moving heaps fast and other interesting stuff , i was thinking about mabey capturing a moon rise to see what that would look like. -
If your interested VirtualDub has a frame rate control under the Video Menu. I believe you will have to capture your video as normal and apply the filter when you frameserve. The filter allows processing of every 2nd or 3rd frame or any value you nominate. I haven't tried it, the filter may also apply when you capture by grabbing the frames you nominate and rejecting the rest.
Just a thought, give it a try.
