  1. Here are screenshots from Netflix show archive81. There are virtually no information of the practice of tape archiving/restoration/repair. If anyone has any info on the tools they use, please post it here. I assume all are custom made.

    Spool winders (in various hub & reel sizes), manual (or a pencil, or sharpie, in a pinch) - a steenbeck could be modded to work.

    Demagnetized safety razors

    non-fibrous/lint-free swabs and denatured alcohol/freon-tf/modern headcleaning fluid

    tape-baking oven

    lint-free cloth gloves (chamois? cotton?)

    ...much more, but those are items used regularly.

    I would not say "no info" - any respectable university library science archiving program will have a wealth of info in this area.
