  1. Hi Guys,

I am trying to convert 23.976 fps divx mopvies to 25 fps PAL SVCD's, I tried a gide that was posted on a forum here (http://forum.vcdhelp.com/viewtopic.php?t=87904), the problem is that VirtualDub will not compress the avi output, and the output file will be extremely huge (235000 MB's), I have installed both the huffy and MJPEG codec's but both do not seem to work.

I have downloaded the latest versions of VirtualDub, huffy and MJPEG.

Do you know what the problem is?

If you need more info (it's a PIII machine running W2K Pro), I'll be happy to provide it.

2nd question: after I've installed the huffy codec TMPGEnc will give an error when I try to cut a move, it says that directshow fails to initialise.

Hope you can help, thanks in advance

  2. If you are trying to make a SVCD virtual dub only compresses to AVI formats. You need MPEG-2 video. MJPEG is AVI.

Once you install the huffyuv codec you still need to enable it in VirtualDub. Once you click FILE and CAPTURE AVI, click VIDEO and COMPRESSION. Then click the HUFFYUV line and click OK. When you do your capture you should get video compression of about 2.5:1 or so.

  4. Don't know why you want to compress your DivX files. They are highly compressed already. If you you want to convert 24fps DivX to PAL SVCD, you just load them directly into encoder, (maybe through a frameserver) and hit the encode button. I live in NTSC country. To do a 24fps to 29.976 fps conversion, you need 3:2 pulldown. I heard there is a 2:2 pulldown for PAL, but never did it.
