WindowsXP hangs after intalling ATI 8500dv?!!!

After installing the ATI AIW 8500dv card, when I turn my computer on, all I get is a blank screen with a cursor in the upper left hand corner of my screen. I had to install my old graphics card just to get my computer operating. What is happening and how can I fix it???!!!

Out of curiousity, what chipset was your previous grapics card, and what motherboard/chipset/BIOS/drivers do you run?

I don't know where to find the chipset or motherboard info. If you can tell me where to look, I'll let you know. As for the BIOS, I just upadated from Dell AO6 to XP2. Does this help?

Well, it doesn't help me, but I was hoping it might jog someone else's memory. One thing I would have suggested was the use of the Detonator Destroyer utility to remove any remnants of your NVidia drivers (that the Dets seems to leave laying around), but I don't think that utility works with XP. If I was experiencing this problem, I'd post here and ask about this:
