I have a fairly large amount of digital 8mm tapes from our sony dcr-trv530. I started transferring them with a USB video grabber i bought off of amazon. I was cooking along and not checking my work until I was about 6 hours total into the job. I stopped to show my wife what I had accomplished and was bummed to find that somehow all the audio it seems on all the digital copies has a bad echo to it, on some of them the echo seems to be maybe 3x. anyone with any ideas what went wrong?
the signal came over from my camcorder a/v jack with the yellow red and white cables into the grabber and then into the computer via usb. the software used to capture was the recommended software from the grabber "OBS Studio"

Maybe OBS captured it both from the USB port as well as from computer audio output chain, where it would be delayed? Any particular reason to use OBS?

For Windows, yes. For Mac, IDK. Also, you can convert Hi8 to DV in camera and send via Firewire.

In OBS, check the Audio Mixer. If you've got more than one audio source, find which one is the correct one (in sync when playing your video) and deactivate all the others by clicking on the respective speaker icons. Generally, you want to use the audio direct from your grabber.

Digital8 tapes are digital already, you don't need to capture them, Just transfer them to computer using iLink cable (a.k.a firewire cable), Use SClive to communicate with the camcorder and transfer the footage. If you don't have firewire in your computer there are alternatives based on your hardware and OS.
