  1. This is my first time ripping a DVD; my goal is to decrypt Behind Enemy Lines, strip enough streams out of it so that it'll fit onto a DVD+RW, and then burn it. Since the movie is only 6 gigs entire, I figure it's a good candidate for a newbie ripping attempt.

I've encountered a problem very early in the process: after using DVD Decrypter to copy all the files from the VIDEO_TS directory of the original DVD to my hard drive, I use IfoEdit to try and play the copy of the DVD which now resides on my hard drive. IfoEdit displays title #1 just fine (FBI warning, studio logo, ratings screen) and when it tries to move on to title #2 (the root menu), it pops up a dialog that says "Could not open a file on the DVD. Playback may not continue." Keep in mind that this is before I have changed the IFO at all. The IFO is exactly as it was on the original DVD, and the only difference is that the VOBs are decrypted. I've verified that they're decrypted by playing them in PowerDVD.

Using IfoEdit to play the movie directly from the DVD, this error message does not occur and the movie plays fine.

Does anyone know what might be going wrong?

  2. Did remember to "Get VTS" and safe the changes to the *.ifo file?
