I bought an Hp dvd200i yesterday and wanted to make a backup of a dvd. I used smartripper to rip it but when I opened smartripper it said no ASPI adapter found, but it began ripping the dvd anyway. Towards the end of the rip smartripper gave a message stating no key for the encrytion file was found and did I want to use the last valid key. I said yes and it finished ripping. I transfered every file into the VIDEO_TS folder within NERO 5.5.8.0 and burned. I got no errors and it said that the burn was successful. It played perfectly on my computer but when I put it in my Apex dvd player it said disk error. I'm using windows 2000 sp2 and the media is HP dvd+RW. Any advice on what I'm doing wrong??

  2. your dvd player needs to support DVD-RW to be able to play it...good chance it doesn't and thats why it doesn't work. Try burning to DVD-R, thats much more likely to work.

    Here's the problem. It's your HP dvd+RW.

Very poor compatibility. It's probably not too late to take it back and exchange it for a Pioneer DVR-A04. Better than 90% compatible.

  4. I had a similar problem when making a 1:! backup ... I solved the problem by using IFOedit , loading the Smartripped IFO files into it, then I clicked the GET VTS button. I was asked if I wanted to overwrite the originals. I clicked YES. Burned these back to DVD-R and the disc played fine in my SONY. I have no idea why, but I do this every time now!!! Hope this helps.... :D

  5. Hello,

The key problem comes if you select 'demacrovision' and 'region free' options. If your original DVD is less than 4.5 GB you can copy the entire content to your DVD+RW (use backup tab). You can keep original macrovision key and region, it will play fine. I suggest you use IFOedit after backup of your files. Use the 'Get VTS stector' button on each VTS_X_X.ifo files, save the correction and process the VIDEO_TS file at last (it is recommended to close and re-open IFOedit between each correction).

Your standalone DVD player may not accept DVD+R / RW. I tried a lot of players before i can find one which plays correctly rewritables DVD.

I use DVD-R and the pioneer DV 444 is the only player that plays every media correctly.

Inside Nero, you must use 'DVD ROM UDF/ISO' model and unselect the joliet option.

If it still doesn't work, go to your favorite reseller and try your disk on different players. Philips is leader in DVD+R format, so i suggest to test it on this make.

    Good luck.
