I'm trying to put together a little homemade video movie that uses a few clips from a few commercial dvd movies. I'm also editing in some local scenes that I shot on video. I'm using Nero 6's Nero Vision Express for the editing.

My question is, how can I edit small portions of the audio on these commercial clips? For instance, I've got a 1 minute clip from 'Cool Hand Luke' and I want to replace *a portion* of the dialog with my own dialog -- as in "blanking out" one of the character's sentences and replacing it with my own audio.

Can this be done? The manual gives no help whatsoever with this, so I've experimented and found that I can drop in my audio at the correct spot, but the original audio remains -- with the result that there's two audio tracks playing at the same time.

ANY help with this would be appreciated!! Thanks....

You are not going to like hearing this, but if you want to do real editing, use a real editor. NeroVision is a toy. For many, that is enough. All they want is basic cut'n'paste editing and little else.

From what you have described, it sounds like NVE's audio is designed purely for adding music behind the main audio, hence playing both clips at once. What you want to do it better done is an audio editor, such as Audacity (free), then replacing the original audio track completely with your new one. Can NVE replace an entire audio track ? Back to the manual you go.

Yup. Easiest is to set the original file's volume to zero then add the new one. You can actually add two, adjusting the volume of each.

For a toy it's pretty damn useful.

To the OP try Nero WaveEditor.
