I have finally gotten around to testing Ice Lake's hardware deinterlacer and here are the results. I encourage someone to post a test with qtgmc or whatever all the kids are using nowadays.
The test source can be found here:
https://forum.videohelp.com/threads/400431-In-need-of-a-a-decent-size-interlaced-sample
The test was done on Manjaro running on a HP laptop that uses a i5-1035G1 and these tests were done via Avidemux.
I tested all available vaapi deinterlacing modes, in both regular frame rate and double frame rate, and I tested with both x265+medium+crf 20; for vaapi I used Intel's hevc but Avidemux does not allow setting quality setting, just a max of 4 b-frames, a max of 250 gop and either bit rate based or "crf", which I used set at 20.
Thoughts are welcome.
