And how would I determine if that is the problem?

It going to take some detective work, "keep intermediate files" in project settings
then you go through the steps looking for the error.
The process in the log shows that it encodes the video, audio, concatenates both into one video/audio (successfully)
and attempts a multiplex that fails

I'd upgrade to the latest version and retry. This has fixes, improvements and more log info

Do you have enough disk space on the target drive?
I see this info, but what are those units?

Yes there is sufficient free space. I actually suspected that might be a problem before I posted this issue so I tried creating the DVD with just ONE of the FIVE clips and that failed with the same message. I should mention that I edited and created mp4 clips that are input to DVDFLICK with Shotcut. I am thinking that an MP4 file is an MP4 file, but are there characteristics of an MP4 file when created that could cause this multiplexing issue?

There are many types of streams that will fit in an mp4. Upload one of the problematic files to the forum
here and I'll take a look.

Windows 10. I did some research and compared the mp4 file properties and this is what I found:

Frm/Width Frm/Height FrmRatekps Bit Ratekps Data Ratekps

    File A 640 360 29.97 707kps 483kps
    File B 320 240 22 647 262
    File C 320 240 22 662 345
    File D 512 384 29.97 1218 885
    File E 512 384 29.97 1113 769

So the question is, can DVDFLICK handle these disparate properties on input to produce a DVD? Are there parameters within DVDFLICK that must be set to handle this type of varying input MP4 files? Just for more research, I am running DVDFLICK to create a DVD with only the D and E files, since they are similar.

The program can do it. By default, the files you add become their own DVD title; no requirement for the files to match, they're all encoded to DVD-spec mpeg-2
    separately.

The program does offer the ability to put two files in the same title (edit title/video tab/add) - in this case the source files mush match.

You could try renaming the config folder (c:\users\userid\appdata\local\DVDflick) and allowing the program to recreate it when it starts up

I may have misread the log but I see the first audio stream being changed from 0.0.ac3 to 0.0.0.ac3. The muxer is looking for 0.0.ac3 to go with the video stream. Since it is apparently not in the folder the mux fails.

OK, my little experiment of combining files with similar properties, file D and E failed. File not multiplexed message again. I noticed on my original error log post on the first video there was a reference to widescreen (16:9) which didn't make sense since these are all old video in 4:3. So when I ran the D and E all similar properties video experiment, I thought the widescreen potential issue would go away, and it did, unfortunately with the same multiplex error result. DB83's comment on the audio issue sounds promising, but what setting in DVDFLICK would need to be changed to remedy?

This is not a program I use myself. In fact I would suggest you throw the same sources at avstodvd which will perform the same function as dvdflick - ie create a dvd from multiple sources to see if you still have an issue.

As for the 16:9 | 4:3 issue, the dvd spec will allow you to mix such sources since they will be provided in the final dvd in separate titlesets/vts (vobs etc). What is not allowed is mixing PAL sources/muxes with NTSC sources/muxes unless one converts one or the other.

But to address your question, the first video has 640*360 which is by no means 4:3 (that would be 640*480 and a mp4 does not have a AR flag regardless and simply does the maths on the h/w ratio). Now it maybe that the program reports the AR incorrectly by ignoring any letter-boxing but would still, for the reasons already stated, not disallow that.

  13. DVDflick is a great little program, the simplest to use DVD authoring app out there when it works.

Unfortunately it is outdated (the original developer abandoned it years ago), and its prone to all sorts of "errors" when it doesn't like your source files for whatever reason. That reason almost always has something to do with the audio track of the source file. While DVDflick does give you a definite heads up if it has an issue with the video (displays an alert and shows a black thumbnail with a red X thru it), it annoyingly does not give any clear indication that its choking on an audio track until it fails an hour later at the authoring stage. It does give some clues, however: if it takes an unusually long time for a MP4 or MKV file to load in the project window (many minutes instead of seconds), chances are the audio will error out. You'll also notice the audio encoding step taking a ridiculously long time: hours and hours instead of minutes.

Having been frustrated by this many times, I'm now much more proactive to avoid wasting time. The instant I notice DVDflick dragging its butt to load a file, I stop the project and modify that source file. There are several ways to do this, in my case someone here recommended extracting the audio from the MP4 with the AvantiGUI ffmpeg utility as a standardized two channel AAC re-encode. In the DVDflick project window, highlight that file and click Edit Title>Audio to remove the troublesome original soundtrack and replace it with the one you created with a utility. DVDflick will usually then process that much quicker, muxing and authoring without an error.

AVStoDVD may or may not handle the same files better than DVDflick. While still active as a current app and very well supported by its developer, it too can have trouble with some files. If neither app succeeds, try creating a new audio track for the difficult file.

Took DB83's advice and used AVSTODVD to create a DVD using the same files I had input to DVDFLICK AND IT WORKED! Got my DVD! Thanks everyone for trying to resolve my issue. I still cannot determine what DVDFLICK choked on, but at this point I am done investigating it any further. So frustrating.
