    Just took my reliable Sony HVR Z5 of of storage. Video is fine but mute. No audio input showing on monitor. Have tried switching external mics and using internal mics only but no result. Any suggestion? I'm not into silent movies....

    is this during playback or recording ??
    1st - try resetting the camera back to default settings.
    2nd - remove all batteries (including any button cell batteries)
    and let the camera set for a few minutes. try both of those
    tips and then see if the audio now works.

    Thank you so much for your prompt response. That fix really worked. Removed battery for 5 minutes. Replaced, powered up, and audio works fine. So grateful to be back up and running. G.
