Hidden 2nd video stream in a video clip ??

Im using vlc on android TV - when I view my thumbnail directory - I see some thumbnails that are not in any of my videos - I know which video it is because I can see the Name of it containing this thumbnail thats not in the video - so here are my questions -

1- is it just a hidden thumbnail jpg in the video ??

2- is it a 2nd hidden video stream in the video clip ??

3- what program can I use to access this thumbnail or 2nd hidden video clip ??

Thumbnails can be available for some container formats, not all. They don't always need to be a clip from the main video stream, either.

Video files do not have to have only 1 stream of video. They have various uses. When stereo 3D was more popular, I would often discuss dual stream videos on this site. However, most apps do not know what to do with additional streams. Some ignore (hide) them, some pop out into a side window, some apps crash. Few play them correctly.
But ALL container formats support multiple streams being muxed together - I have tested each.

Depends on the format. Give us a detailed text readout from MediaInfo of the clip(s) and we might be able to further pin down options.
