  1. Hello guys,
this is my first try of converting an avi to something I can watch on a standalone dvd.
I have a divx.avi - I successfully cut it with virtual dub and also finally managed to get a reasonably sized encoding result with cce v2.62.
My problem is: I now have a mpv file of about 650mb plus a vaf file of about 15mb - I take it is video and sound separated? (I did not follow the instructions on the mainpage here, but another that seemed a lot easier with less programmes involved at the time and in the 65 page manual is no solution to this either )
Now I haven't found any programme that recognizes a vaf file - did something go wrong with the encoding or am I missing out on something? I have been trying to get on top of this encoding business for a week now and I am about to give up.
Thank you for your help in advance.

The vaf file is not the audio, it is the information file that tells cce how to encode. The vaf is what is created during the first pass of the multipass encoding process. Your still missing the audio file. You'll need get the audio from those avi files.

  3. Thanks for your explanation.
Problem is that I now have about 674MB of video plus 476 MB of audio (wav) and that is only about 45 mins (half of the total time) of a Dance film.
Which programme should I use to join them and can I compress the lot to get it on one CD?
Will I have to do it that way in future or is there a way to get the video and audio file together encoded with CCE?
    Thanks for your reply.
    Attilio.

You'd want to encode the vaw to mp2.
Get beesweet or toolame (http://www.vcdhelp.com/vcdtools.htm a bit down) for that.

then the size should fit a cd.

USe BBmpeg to join the mpv and mp2 (guess you find that there too)
Well, I am the slime from your video.
Oozin' along on your livin'room floor.
