  1. I downloaded VCDeasy and tried to use it but it didn't work, there was some problem with my ASPI layer.

After upgrading my ASPI layer via Adaptec's upgrade package (v4.70), I tried VCDeasy again, but it still didn't work. "Fine", I thought, "I can live without making VCDs," and uninstalled it. Later that day, I tried to use CDEX to rip some CDs but got an error message saying that my ASPI layer wasn't working/installed correctly. Also, Windows Media Player can't read in digital mode anymore.

Is there any way to "downgrade" to an older ASPI layer?

Or could it be that I just messed up the installation of the new ASPI layer? On the website it says to unzip it to "C:\adaptec\aspi" but I don't have that directory. So if I did mess up, where do I put the new ASPI files?

    PLEASE HELP A NEWBIE!!

do a search for a application on your system called "aspichk.exe" If this program says that you have probems with your aspi configuration, do a search on google for something called force aspi, this will force the aspi layers to update, even if adaptec says you can't
