I need help. All I want to do is create a slide show and use a mov file for the music. I played a song and took a video recording of it, hence the mov file. This cannot be that difficult but my old brain is having trouble with Avidemux. Please help and thanks.

P.S. this used to be so easy with youtube but......... "when something's good, why does it change?" Hank Williams Jr. circa 1990's

  2. Use shotcut, create a project, add you pictures, music and export it, simple as that.

If you need some extra help, this should get you covered.

  3. I just learned about Shortcut, mentioned here in a few threads I read; judging from screenshots and the list of features it seems pretty impressive.
In practice, how does it compare with middle range commercial editors ?

Thank you amaipaipai for the shotcut recommendation. It appears to be what I need. On my first try however, my music stopped playing before it or the slide show was finished. I wonder what I'm doing wrong...

  5. It just means that you video is bigger than the music track. Adjust the video track short to match your music track.

How do you suggest I do that? My "song" is actually the same length (in time) that the slide show is. I adjusted the slide show to around 8 seconds per slide (up from the standard 4) to have the slide show and song end at the same time. Is there another way to "sync" the two? Thanks again for your help!

  7. Click on the picture, move your mouse to the edge, click on it and adjust the size to match up with your music track. At the end of your video and music track both should be aligned, if not select the last picture and like before, adjust it to match the end of your music track.

I will give that a try later today. Thanks so much for your continued help for this "newbie". Since youtube deleted a way to make a slide show with my own music, I found this through you. Thank you again for a great alternative platform to use.

  9. No problem.
I never use shotcut before, I'm a Adobe Premiere/Blackmagic Davinci Resolve user, once you learn to use one you learn it all!
Here is a sample done with shotcut, I used some images and a japanese sound track, the audio track is bigger so all you have to do is to adjust or cut to make it match up.
