I'm attempting to shrink the file size of an exported PowerPoint slideshow (mp4), but no matter the settings, I always have after images flickering on the screen. Basically, a slide shows, fade transitions to the next slide, and then a smaller and semitransparent image of the previous slide flashes on the screen. The source file shows none of these.

I'm using the latest Handbrake and tried blindly tried multiple settings; I searched the forums, but couldn't locate anything; I used multiple computers to shrink it and view it; but nothing has helped.

    Please help

I don't know what version of Powerpoint you are using, but I am on 2010 and do not have the option of exporting to MP4.

Anyhow, I created a short show and exported from Powerpoint in HD wmv and then converted to mp4 using handbrake and the resulting file was perfect.

Interesting Brainiac. I'm using 2016 and it defaults to export as MP4, but if I "save as" it has WMV as an option. I'll do one and see after Handbrake.

    It worked! Thanks Brainiac!

So, when I converted the slide show to a video using "export" in PowerPoint 2016, the MP4 video played perfectly. However, attempting to reduce the file size using Handbrake introduced the after images I mentioned above.

The solution, as Brainiac hinted at, was to instead use "save as" and save the file as a WMV. With the WMV I was able to reduce the file size and convert it to MP4 without problems.

One note about PowerPoint and exporting/save as: if you click "export" you can select the resolution (1080, 720), but then go back to "save as" and select WMV to convert to video.
