I am fairly new to the digital video industry and after doing some research I wanted to get your opinion on a couple of things...
1) What is the point of having an expensive capture card (apart from quality parts) if the only thing you do is to capture lossless DV to your computer? I guess I really don't understand why I would want to get a Matrox rt2500 for $800 to do the same thing a Pinnacle studio DV card would do if I am to edit later in Premiere?
2) My intent is to shoot home movies, transfer to computer, clean DV into SVCD MPEG's and make SVCD's? What format of digitial media does most of you store you video in for later use? DV, MPEG, MPEG 2, AVI for later use? What format do you keep your footage in?
(I am not really sure if the best way would be to store the DV but wouldn't that take too much space?)
Hope this makes sense and any input would be appreciated!!!
