When GoPro first came out with their Stereo Camera arrangement, I a had Hero-2 and bought a second Hero-2 and the dual housing. That arrangement, with the sync cable, never worked correctly, and most of the time the two cameras would not start or stop at the same time. Even with the firmware updates, it still would not work and GoPro could not help and would not make good on it. As a result, I have L+R MP4 video streams that will not import and match correctly in Cineform Studio. The files that did start and stop together are recognized and I have been able to convert them to AVI, and output them in both anaglyph and side-side MP4 files. Cineform Studio tries to match, but mixes up the others in incorrect combinations that are unusable. I maintained the specified separate directory structure for the left and right files.
"Getting-right-down-to-the-real-nitty-gritty", does anyone know about this situation, and how to correct it so they will match up correctly?
I conclude that the matching has to do with the file name, length / size, date stamp and meta data, can anyone confirm this for me ?
What software may be used to trim the length of the original MP4 and still it save with the required GoPro meta data, if that is part of the problem ?
I have read your amazing info and the hundreds of different pieces of software to do different things. I am unable to assimilate all of that into a concise work flow that will meet my requirements. Although I have discovered and learned how to at least author 3D in SBS to Blu-ray using Cineform and Premiere, (my Sony 3D TV has to be manually set to display SBS), I would prefer to output my video in Frame Packed, for maximum quality. Unless I can correct the mismatch of L+R video files, and for new video I might capture, can you recommend software that will allow me to (1) manually align and combine L+R video as Cineform Studio does, (2) output in anaglyph, SBS or Frame Packed, (3) author it in Frame Packed HD format to Blu-ray ?
I have Premiere Elements 10, and just purchased Cyberlink Power Producer 6 Ultra. As they used to say of me, "don't tell me how to build a watch, please just tell me what time it is."( Provide a step by step procedure to accomplish these two tasks, in Windows 7, as best you can)..!!
Thanks in advance,

You should be able to trim a few frames off the start of one of the videos in order to get them in sync. Maybe you should upload a short pair for people to look at. This site accepts files up to 500 MB.

JAG,
Thank you, I appreciate you responding, however, responding to yours in order of your suggestions, I submit the following;
(1) What editor to use to trim and especially to SAVE with and maintain the assumed metadata that Cineform Studio apparently requires to even begin ? Premiere will let me edit, but will presumably save the MP4 without being identified as a GoPro generated file. (Hmm, I guess I should at least try right ?) Cineform Studio won't open any other video that is not created in a GoPro camera so far as I have tried. That is why one of my original questions was; "can you recommend software that will allow me to (1) manually trim, align and combine L+R video as Cineform Studio does, (2) output in anaglyph, SBS or Frame Packed, (3) author it in Frame Packed HD format to Blu-ray ?"
(2) The existing mismatched file names and length are self evident, and I have tried, by way of copies in another directory, to change and match the file names, but Cineform Studio will still not match them correctly as a 3D pair.
(3) The main files that won't match up are 4+ GB, and referencing (1) above, I don't know a way to upload only a sample of the mismatched files. I do however think I have a short pair of MATCHING files that I could upload for examination by someone that could determine what needs to be done to the L+R files that DON'T match.
I will go back and see if I have a pair of short mismatched files, and if so, I will attempt to upload those for analysis as well.
Thanks again JAG, this got me thinking and I feel is at least a starting point. ***
PS: I apologize to the forum for posting the off topic part in the original, I will edit my original post and re-post that in the "off topic" section as Digital Technology Origins that you may find enlightening.
*** OMG ! About 1/2 hour after posting this, a light came on, (my mind boggles itself !) the answers may have been in front of me all along, "If you can get your mind right on it [Cool Hand] Luke". If Cineform Studio allows me to trim and save back the individual video files, I may be able to (1) make the L+R file sizes the same, and if the metadata is the same for ALL GoPro generated files and that is not a factor, they may then be matched correctly on the import in Cineform Studio and be recognized as a 3D pair, if the date/time stamp is not also a factor. If that is, then one more question is what program will let me change that ?
Good Grief
I still need advice on part-1 above regarding a program to output for Frame Packing and authoring to Blu-ray DVD.Last edited by Dino Soar; 8th Sep 2018 at 20:51.
