I'm thinking of buying one of the new Panasonic DVD-RAM camcorders. Is there a playback device that will hook up to my home theater system that will allow me to play in the cartridge format?

    Thanks,

  2. The Pansonic RP-91 DVD player will play DVD-RAM carts. So will their E20 DVD recorder/player.

  3. I have one of these Panasonic E20, just think of it as a Digital VCR, you hook this up just like the old VCR system, I have my Digital Cable coming in and the out to the TV, when I record on the DVd-RAM I can set just like a VCR 2/4/6/ hours, I have also ran a Direct to DVD-R recording off the Cable TV, did a movie and it came out perfect. When I record on the DVD-Ram I take the Ram Cartrige to another PC I have set up and copy the file over, run it through TMPGEnc to create a VCd or SVCD, recording on the 4 Hour mode will give you a 352x480 48Hz MPEG file. You will need a DVD-RAM device on your PC to read the DVD-RAM cartridge in order to transfer the files. Best buy I've made in a long time, NO MORE VHS tapes for me. I pay $9.99 for the DVD-RAM at ComUSA, but you can find that on the Net, which I will do the next time around.
