Hi everyone,

I've been wanting to try my hand at video production/editing for some time, and finally scored a PC capable of doing so. I also was lucky enough to purchase a great deal on Vegas Pro 14. As a hobbyist musician for a number of years, and also having a little side business offering audio editing services, some of the basic concepts are fairly straightforward since I'm familiar with a few DAW's. In saying that, I've already hit my ceiling with that so each hour I've been putting in to Vegas is a lot of learning now !

Any advice from the old hands on how I might get started in training myself? Ie; some essential 'basics' that I should learn in the early stages ? Ideally I'm hoping to do a lot more than just splice takes, add stock transitions and music, and hoping to build out some FX as my creativity dictates. In my recent research I've determined that there are plugin packs like Sapphire (for Vegas) and AE (for Premiere Pro - which I am not using), but would like to create stuff from scratch.

So far I'm getting my head around how keyframes function, and have done some image rotations, zoom outs, masking etc.

Anyway, thanks for having me, and I hope to chat with some of you here on the forum.
