  1. Got a couple of questions I hope someone can advise on.
One concerns avidemux which I normally use for editing mp4 files

On the output format option it has two for mp4
one is just called mp4 muxer, the other mp4v2 muxer. which one is best to use and what is the difference?
    ----------------------------------

Question 2 is for Xmedia recode.
Tried to recode an ,avi file to reduce size, after edriting on avidemux, file was 769 Mb
As bitrate was quite high at 6000 kbps wanted to reduce size further and tried to recode using 3500 kbps. Expected a size about 400 MB. However to my surprise it was actually larger than original file at over 1 GB Cant figure out why this should be?
Tried to save in another format converting to mp4 at 3500, but same result as in avi, over 1 GB
    I am baffled.

    Hi,
    prefer MP4v2 when you can.
To second question, are you sure it is just video size? I suspect you have raw audio or something with high bitrate audio.

  3. Ahh thanks for that never considered audio might be the cause
In fact Audio bitrate is much higher than other files i have so will try that with reduced Audio bitrate

To really find out what is going on, open the file with mediainfo in text or tree view,
will give all the info you need instead of you and us guessing.
