Hi There,
Looking for best option to record a class. I don’t have wifi and want to be able to record at least four hours continuous. I realize battery life is an issue but could plug in. Quality doesn’t matter. Just reliability.
Any ideas? The cheap action cams look ok, but can you plug them in? Use an external battery with a USB charger?
TIA.

Budget?? Logistics? Audio?
If you think quality is not an issue, you probably shouldn't be recording the class(es), because the main thing that keeps the longevity of those recordings, other than the obvious feature of the accuracy, astuteness, smooth professionalism and pertinence of the content, is the recoding's quality.
I say this as someone in charge of setup & management of over 100 university classroom camera systems & their (daily) recordings.

The recording is for security not for future use or review. But thanks for the reply. A dash cam kind of setup would be fine. The loop recording would be good. Just not sure I can use a dash cam outside a car. I would look at a security cam or baby monitor but they seem to need big systems or wifi and the class is not in a permanent location. Just need a good cheap video to monitor the class.

Axis IP Cams feeding a server, with loop/rollover (though possible save override) and separate matrix/compositing/"hollywood squares" monitoring client app. Better with dedicated subnet, switches, routers.
That's doing it thoroughly for ruggedness & longevity. Cheaper options would require things like manual storage retrieval. Less options available in scope.
All still depends on budget.
