Can anyone please tell me the settings they have used to successfully create an XVCD that plays on the Pioneer DV-626 and what are the highest bitrates for video and audio and highest resolution that have worked and given smooth playback.

I've tried about 20 different bitrates (all lower than 2600 which is what is the max combined bitrate according to the compatibility list) at resolutions of standard 352x288 and 720x576. The best I got was 352x288 at 1500 bitrate. Anything else and I just get a blank screen while the disc spins endlessly.

    Help greatly appreciated!

  2. Why are you wasting your time making XVCDS??

No one can hardly play them on DVD players. You lucky if you have a DVD player that can play them, probably you're not doing anything wrong, its the DVD player.... It might read it but its not going to play it very good....

Why are you not using just regular VCD or SVCD. Its not worth the time or headache and if you wanted to trade whatever you make on VCD, you wont be able too because you are recording XVCD.

Just keep it simple.....Hell, I dont even use my Computer anymore. I got a stand alone VCD recorder....Terapin!!

Did you see the reviews and comments on the DVD player??

Many people are having problems with SVCD and XVCD. It sounds like the player just wont read them correctly.

Still, why are you trying so hard to make the XVCD. Dude, trust me, its completely pointless!!!!!!!

well aside from that guy's very helpful advice I have a pioneer DVD-525 and it will play anything up to 2.99mb/s on either mpeg-1 (xVCD) and mpeg-2 (xSVCD). If you're like me I could really give a shit if it doesn't play on other peoples players--why would I want to give up bitrate on the off chance that I put this on someone else's machine Anyways, do get player specific keep checking this website--somebody somewhere has the info you're looking for.
