  1. I was wondering is there any possible way to rip a dvd without a dvd-rom drive?

    cause i got a regular cd-rom drive and a cd-writer

  6. Yes it s possible

    Hook up a settop DVD player to a video capture card, play the DVD on one side and record on the video capture card. If the capture card does not have macrovision enabled (like my Dazzle), you get very nice captures as a result, you can do SVCDs or VCDs very nicely.

  7. ..or get someone to copy the dvd to something like a laptop
    and then network it across to your machine.

    Some films on DVD can be
    bought on SVCD or VCD which will be readable on your computer.
    You do need at least a 200Mhz cpu to play them though and the
    quality will not be as good.
