What index to post this in: VLC subtitle problem

VLC PLAYER>media>convert/save>add movie file>use subtitle file> when I add the subtitles and go thru the process the subtitles are not in the movie. What could I be doing wrong.

'Newbie/General' forum should get more replies as your question concerns a software player and subs. It may take a day or two for some useful replies.
