  1. Hi, I am a newcomer and I want to know is there any software to increase the quality (resolution) of a movie or not? I download some but they did not work properly. I need a software (free is better) for widows 10, if there is any. Thanks a lot.

  2. Quality isn't the same thing as resolution. You can have a high resolution (high-definition) version of something and it can be of very poor quality. And downloading something from the internet increases your chances of getting junk. And the chances are very good that the movie you downloaded is copyright protected and surely you don't want the owner of this site to get in trouble.

If you would like specific help with something, please cut out a 10 second or so piece of it and make it available and someone here can see if it can be improved.

  3. Thank you. I mean the quality. I have a movie which cannot recognize the faces of people properly. So, I want to know if there is a way to increase the quality to see the faces better. I attached the mentioned movie.

  4. You may be able to sharpen the image slightly. But the real problem is motion blur and the inefficient compression that results from tthe phone trying to record that motion blur.

Going forward. Hold the phone more steadily, hold it horizontally, and move in closer.

  5. Thank you but I am not pro. What do you mean from "sharpen the image slightly".

  6. Most non-linear editors have a "sharpen" or "unsharp mask" function, even many phones have enhancement software now. You'll be able to add a little contrast and improve the perception of sharpness, but don't expect miracles.

  7. Here's a sharpened and enlarged clip. If you know the women you'll be able to recognize them.

Thank you so much. Is this the better change that I can do on the movie?

  9. You might be able to pull a little more detail out of it with a lot of work. But the compression has obliterated a lot of detail and created artifacts. And the motion blur in some frames doesn't help. If you have an original with higher resolution and/or less compression artifacts that would be a better starting point.

  10. And most recent TV's have firmware that up-scales DVD's to 1080 and I can attest that it really looks good. Much better picture than the original DVD resolution and quality. Maybe it's subjective, but to my eyes the up-scaled resolution/quality is super.
