Scan Capture VHS film Directly

I have a Canon LiDE 600 Scanner that has a film negative scanner. If i clip parts of the VHS tape is it possible to scan it directly?

No. VHS is magnetic tape that can only be read by magnetic heads in a helical scanner. If you cut it and put it through an optical scanner, you will just get pictures of black tape.

I thought so, i tried focusing on it with my eyes and all i could see was a black film. Besides a vhs tape is there any means to have direct access over it with digital means or any kind of a hack

Well, there is something called magnetic force microscopy, but we are getting into the realm of the ridiculous unless you are working for the National Intelligence Service.

Well, you could always pop them in a video recorder connected up to a TV and watch or capture them . . . ? (I think there are one or two threads here about this.)
