  1. Hi
Perhaps someone can give me a little help, or point me in the right direction. I currently use kmttg to download programs off of my TiVo. When I do this, the file file is an .mpg file, which I can proceed to edit, encode, or do whatever I want. However, I have no clue how to extract the subtitles from the file.

I tried using CCExtractor but the .srt file it creates is empty.

When I play the file in windows media player and turn on the subtitles, they play. So I know the captions are there. I just can't figure out how to extract them to their own .srt file. Any ideas?

The default setting in the 608 Decoder section on CCExtractorGUI's decoder tab are field 1 and channel 1. That is normally where the English CCs are found, but sometimes another field and channel combination is used. Have you tried any other combinations for field and channel?

eac3to sometimes works for files which CCExtractoGUI can't process. https://forum.videohelp.com/threads/341312-How-to-extract-Close-Captions-%28EIA-608%29-...=1#post2125410
