  1. Hi everyone,

Apologies if this is a complete newbie question!

I am a wedding photographer that have started creating wedding videos (avi format for now) that my customers view on their computers or tablets. I would like to make the video to launch my website once it is finished.

Is that possible and do people know how to do it?

    Thanks!

Seems like it's possible, although I've not seen it used in a long time. But it could be player dependent as well, and I haven't used the "standard" WMP in a long time.

Having said that, if they are paying for the videos, I wouldn't be that intrusive with your advertising. Personally I'd be more inclined to visit your site just by seeing the url than having it open a browser for me.

Thank you for the quick response. The videos are used to showcase the photos I took. Apologies if that wasn't clear so I would very much like to encourage them back to my site once viewed

Really bad netiquette, especially with all the nasty viruses and malware around.

I agree 100%. If you did that with me I'd call you personally to tell you to go frak yourself and no one I know would ever darken your door ...

  6. If this is on a free demo disk promoting your services this might be OK. On disk that customers paid you to do just leave your url at the beginning and/or end of the disk. IMHO word of mouth is the best way to make or break your business.

If your customers have paid you to create their wedding videos you should not include any advertising.
If it is promotional video it is OK so long as if they use you services your final product doe not contain your advertising.

Personally if it was me and you delivered my wedding video with a bouncing URL for you website burned in the video I would be really pissed.

The answer is yes, but as evidenced by the posts (mine included) above, it's highly discouraged. Even if you did add this function to your disc, most savvy PC users disable AutoRun and AutoPlay on their optical drives (as recommended on this forum) to block what you're seeking to do.

  10. Murphy has a law that says if you do that to wedding videos, within a few years:

    1. You will go out of business.
    2. Your domain will be bought by a porn distributor.
    3. All your previous customers will be directed to a porn site every time they view their wedding video.
    4. Hilarity ensues (or maybe not)
They that give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety deserve neither liberty or safety.
