I have an MP4 file that will not open or play. I went to MP4.org and they say that they can repair but they want $101. That is a deal breaker. I have used a lot of the free programs and they did not work. Any suggestions?

    This forum is OK.
You might post a MediaInfo text output for the file. Blank out the files name if desired. Then one of our members may be able to tell you why it doesn't play.
If MediaInfo can't read it, it may be too damaged or it's encrypted.

And have you tried VLC player for playback. It plays most video files.

    And welcome to our forums.

I have tried VLC and nothing happens. I do not get an error message or anything. I downloaded the Mediainfo file but do not know how to install it. I opened it and viewed the file names with 7zip but I had to extract one by one and have no idea how to install the program.
    Thanks for your help

You should be able to extract the MediaInfo portable 64bit file with 7zip. Then click on the .exe file in it and that will open the file browser.
Drop the video file onto that and select 'text' view.
Copy and paste that to a post.

MP4 repair.org said that they could repair the file but their cost was over one hundred dollars. Is there a program that could be bought that could do the same job at a savings.
