  1. It says it doesn't re-encode at all. But then why are there options to change quality? What should I do? Oh and I can't get subtitles to merge into the files. They don't even come up as an option in anything, a bluray play or media player classic, it's like they just didn't exist. TY

It's usually just for re-encoding the audio. Usually for converting AC3 to AAC, and for downmixing 5.1 to stereo.

What kind of subtitles are we talking about? Mediainfo on the video in question would help.

    .
Notice how the audio has green text, and is going to convert the audio from AC3 to AAC, and is also going to normalize the audio to make the highs and lows less extreme. While the video has no green text, meaning it will just be copied into the MP4 untouched.

whats the best thing to do to make sure that no way will it re-encode?
For me I just do nothing, and it just copies the video. If it was re-encoding the video it would take many times longer. So if it only takes 10-20 minutes to do the remuxing then it probably is not re-encoding the video. As that would take many hours, depending on your CPU and settings used.

If you have external .SRT subtitles, you can add them to the MP4. Just drag and drop the .SRT file to the lower half of the program where the video and audio are listed, and it will ask if you want to add the track. Say yes.
